This 2"-tall steamer rack, with a steamer basket sitting on top of it, converts my stock pot into a very nice steamer and with very easy cleanup even after steaming fish, which I do regularly. The rack is very sturdy and cleans easily. Two inches is about the minimum height to keep fish out of the water, because it froths, and can end up 'braising' the fish in the liquid. There is a 2.7" rack also, but with my basket on it the lid to my pot does not close. 2.3-2.5 also would be a good height (for my kettle).
